Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for directing and managing HMG procurement on a tactical as well as strategic level. Together with supplier quality she/he will select, qualify and develop the supplier base. Price - and contract negotiations are crucial for this role.
The responsibility encompasses the management of existing sources and has a strong focus on encouraging competition through finding and qualifying additional offshore sourcing capabilities for all products and materials (expand global Footprint).
The Dir. Purchasing is the Operations Purchasing representative for early involvement in product development as liaison. The activity will leverage Harman Corporate sourcing agreements and contribute as required.

Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages all vendor activities for HMG SLC for the assigned commodities.
2. Creates and implements a strategic sourcing plan that fosters the highest level of commitment to continuous improve in product quality, cost and delivery; establishes Purchasing Policies for the assigned area of responsibility as needed and ensures compliance.
3. Develops strategy and targets for assigned commodities attaining HMG PPV. Monitors and reports progress.
4. Insures that purchasing master data of assigned commodities are current and updated regularly.
5. Directs the negotiations of major contracts involving the assigned commodities.
6. Analyzes markets and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
7. Manages and monitors all aspects of his responsibility including employee training and supervision.
8. Participates as necessary in production and product development meetings.
9. Serves as the liaison with, and team member on, Harman Corporate procurement initiatives.
10. Responsible for the inventory levels and inventory turnover rates of assigned products and materials... Will be expected to develop and implement programs which create superior service levels, while simultaneously minimizing inventory and freight charges.
12. Responsible for identifying and developing strategic relationships with suppliers for assigned products and materials to create competitive advantages.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• This position requires a technical Bachelor’s Degree and a MBA.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in Procurement management with financial accountability and contract negotiations with a $100million company are required.
• The incumbent should demonstrate the ability for substantially improve sourcing operation in his area of responsibility through experience and dynamic leadership.

4. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

7. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

9. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
10. Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
11. Possesses strong skills contract negotiation and contract administration.
12. Proficiency with SAP or Oracle as enterprise system
