Description: | PRIMARY FUNCTION
Applies standard theoretical and broad practical knowledge in a particular functional area to develop the more difficult designs involving original conceptions and modifications of accepted standards. Functions as a group leader of lower level drafters and designers. Frequently functions as working leader, lead designer or supervisor providing guidance and direction to a group of drafters and designers. Incumbent works under the general direction of the Discipline Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develops schedules and prepares a list of milestones for the assigned project.
•Prepares bid tabulations for the selection of materials and equipment.
•Prepares preliminary design studies.
•Prepares layout studies, specifications, equipment drawings and detail and construction drawings in compliance with process and client requirements.
•Recommends practicability and suitability of design, material and other criteria.
•Consults with designers and engineers to resolve problems.
•Evaluates effects of changes and modifications on form, function and positional relationships of total design or component.
•May check work of drafting personnel.
•Demonstrates a high level of technical ability and leadership skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•Requires vocational training in basic drafting technology and Computer Aided Design; or Associates Degree in Engineering Technology and Computer Aided Design or equivalent from a two-year college; or, equivalent combination of education/experience and at least five (5) years of design experience.
•Requires a working knowledge of AutoCAD applications, Smart Plant applications, 2D/3D design and an understanding of the capabilities/limitations of the equipment relating to the efficient production of engineering documents
