Description: | | Under general direction, finish poured concrete to specifications. | Duties: | •Utilize special tools and apply finisher skills and knowledge to level, flatten and smooth concrete.
•Apply cementuous materials to hardened concrete walls for a smoother architectural appearance.
•Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions if clarification is needed.
•Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures.
•Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety.
•Work effectively as team member of field workforce
•Commit to and meet scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
•Follow supervisor instructions and decisions.
•Have tools required of a journeyman finisher.
| Qualifications: | Education and/or Experience
High school education or equivalent and at least three years (4500 hours or more) of concrete finishing related work experience.
Language Skills
Must be able to understand basic English.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to use carpentry math to calculate measurements.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interprets a variety of complex instructions.
Computer Skills
Not required for this position.
Planning/Organization
Prioritize tasks.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires heavy physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push, pull, grip with force, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally may be required to lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Vision requirements include good depth perception, field of vision, and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is outdoors where the employee is exposed to changing weather conditions. Employee is regularly required to lift or carry items. Employee is often exposed to an improperly illuminated or awkward and confining space. Employee will occasionally come into contact with air contamination such as dust, fumes, smoke, toxic conditions or disagreeable odors. Noise level is very loud.
TRAVEL
Overnight travel by land and/or air may be required.
CONTACTS
Employee will work mainly with the foreman and other craft employees.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS
Hours are generally 40 per week. The employee may be requested to work up to 10 to 20 hours of overtime. Overtime will be compensated at time and one-half the employee’s base rate or in accordance with applicable state laws.
